Latest from Kingston – 128 GB Flash Disk

Kingston Technology First to Market with a 128GB Capacity USB Drive

Kingston Technology Europe recently announced the release of the Kingston DataTraveler 200, the world’s first 128GB USB Flash drive.

The Kingston DataTraveler 200 provides users with the option to password protect their data, as well as giving consumers and business users the flexibility to carry vast amounts of data with them at all times.

“The DataTraveler 200’s immense 128GB storage capability lets users store as much data as 182 music CDs or up to 27 DVD movies. Business users benefit as they can carry around large databases or files whilst they are out of the office,” said Jim Selby, European Product Marketing Manager, Kingston Technology.

“The password protection facility helps safeguard data and requires no admin rights, making the DataTraveler 200 a terrific solution for the home or office.” The Kingston 128 GB USB Drive arrives just short of a decade after Trek Technology and IBM launched their first USB Flash Drives commercially.  IBM's USB flash drive became available in late 2000 and had a storage capacity of 8 MB.

Roll Up Waterproof Keyboard

Writing endless essays and dissertations, not to mention cranking out interminable spreadsheets can discombobulate one mercilessly. Or, to use contemporary parlance, do one's head in. So it's no wonder that one should seek a distraction now and again. Like making a cuppa. Watching telly. Or doing all manner of diverting activity. Anything, in fact, but real work.

Now, a device has been invented that is the distraction. And shocking pink it is, too. This frankly astonishing keyboard is bendable, cleanable, droppable and, most importantly, typable. Think of it as your flexible friend, able to roll up and go anywhere, with silent keys for extra stealthy late-night typing and a fabulous back-lit pink for making extra-fluffy finger puppets on the ceiling.

Best of all, there's no complex installation process or software needed for typing on the go. With pure plug and play technology at its heart, you're off and glowing in no time. In short, it's pure girly QWERTY joy in silicone form - practically indestructible and a fetching shade of the pinkest, bubblegummest pink imaginable. Another giant leap towards the seamless woman-machine interface.

Webcam Photo Frame

One's desk is an important space. A space to be cherished and protected from the incursion of one's neighbours. A space to contain personal effects as well as vital workplace tools. And, above all, a place for total control of one's dominion via a battery of gadgets, gizmos and devices. So it is with pride that we present the latest in a line of high-tech accessories - namely a state-of-the-art webcam complete with a fully detachable 1.8-inch digital photo frame.

Coming complete with 8MB of memory, the frame element stores up to approximately 56 images in GIF, BMP or JPG format. And, as it's fully detachable, you can move it around the office to demonstrate the beauty of one's family (and therefore the quality of one's gene pool). The digital photo frame is recharged when plugged into the base, ensuring the lights never go out.

The integrated webcam is designed for complete compatibility with all the major instant messaging applications including MSN, Skype and Yahoo. With a bit of know-how, it can even be used for video conferencing, keeping you completely connected, without moving a muscle from your desk.

If that's not enough to satisfy one's desire for total command of one's empire, the device also tells the time, date and temperature. And yes, it's even got an alarm to remind one to wake up for one's next meeting. Splendid.

Features

• Integrated 1.8-inch photo frame and webcam
• CSTN screen
• Lithium rechargeable battery
• 300K CMOS web cam sensor
• Compatible with Windows 98, 2000, XP and Vista

Net-talking toaster to burn news onto bread

Many things have appeared on toast: Marmite, Vegemite, jam and even Cylons. Now a designer’s invented a toaster that can burn pretty much anything onto your morning slice, including the news.

The Scan Toaster connects to a PC over USB and downloads everything from local weather conditions and the current time to the morning’s news headlines.

Inside the toaster is a network of toasting “modules”, each heated by a hot wire. Each module can move by 30° and, once the user selects what they want on their toast - excluding a topping, of course - the modules align themselves and burn the appropriate content onto the bread.

The appliance is a finalist in design competition run by manufacturer Electrolux and designer Sung Bae Chang said he got the idea whilst - you guessed it - making some toast.

No plans to manufacture the toaster on a mass scale have popped up yet.
